THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HARAJUKU (G van Niekerk) was unable to get cover in the early stages and was allowed to race around the field and into a handy position approaching the 1000m. b) Jockey C Zackey reported that PRINCE OF DENMARK made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) In view of the performance of FLASH LIGHTNING (C Orffer), which raced wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight and was not persevered with from the 300m, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.5.1 in that he failed to report to the Clerk of Scales at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of Race 2, in which he was engaged to ride MAKHACHEV. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500.00. e) HARAJUKU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
