THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PALO QUEEN (C Zackey) jumped inwards. b) BULLITT (B Fayd'Herbe) and TOUGH TERRAIN (G van Niekerk) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start Jockey C Zackey expressed concern with the action of PALO QUEEN while proceeding to the start. PALO QUEEN (C Zackey) was examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race. b) EASY MONEY (K Steyn) and PALO QUEEN (C Zackey) brushed at the 250m. Shortly thereafter PALO QUEEN (C Zackey) had to be steadied when close to the heels of ROCK ON TOMMY (K de Melo). c) In view of the performance of PALO QUEEN (C Zackey) (Betting 5/1; Distance 10.55 lengths) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that ROCK ON TOMMY made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) EASY MONEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PAW Botha was advised.
