Race 1: 4RACING WELCOMES YOU WORK RIDERS MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) (For Maiden F & M. R15 000 Win bonus ROA Members)

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	PUNTA ALTA (+C Mabaya) and ALL RISE (+C Simpson) were slow losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	PUNTA ALTA over-raced in the early stages, which resulted in the saddle slipping forward in running, placing Work Rider C Mabaya at a severe disadvantage. Thereafter, leaving the 1500m, EXQUISITE DAWN (+T Ncume) had its hindquarters turned inwards when bumped by PUNTA ALTA, which continued to prove difficult to settle. Work Rider C Mabaya directed this filly outwards to provide relief to other runners and as a consequence, raced towards the outside of the track, around the turn and into the straight. 
b)	Work Rider T Lukhele reported that DUSKY ROSE did not stride out freely in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
c)	Work Rider S B Mthembu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking IMPRESSION more than twelve times in the entire race.  Work Rider S B Mthembu signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in three (3) Work Rider races.  Suspension dates:  1 August, 26 August 2023 and 31 August 2023.       
When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used and the manner in which the crop was used.  	
Work Rider S B Mthembu was charged with an additional infringement for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline G on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse IMPRESSION when out of contention for a place. The Board imposed a suspension from riding in one (1) Work Rider race.  
Suspension date:  7 September 2023.   		 	
d)	Trainer P F Matchett was issued with an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate PUNTA ALTA against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer P F Matchett signed the Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed.
e)	AUNT PITTYPAT (+S Mosia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
Stable Employee P de Palma, acting on behalf of Trainer S J Gray, was advised (LK).
f)	DUSKY ROSE (+T Lukhele), placed fifth, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
Trainer P P Labuschagne was advised (MB).

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a)	DUSKY ROSE lame left front tendon. Specimens collected for analysis. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies. DUSKY ROSE is required to perform a gallop to the satisfaction of the NHA veterinary department prior to her next engagement. Trainer P P Labuschagne advised (MB).
