Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PLUS FOUR (A Domeyer) jumped slow, losing one length. b) JOVIAL (D Ashby) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 900m SEVEN DOGS (S Cele) had to be steadied away from the heels of SEA HORSE (G van Niekerk), which raced green and shifted in. Jockey G van Niekerk appeared before the Board and was advised to exercise more care. b) Leaving the 1000m PLUS FOUR (A Domeyer) had to be steadied, losing momentum, when tightened for room between 'O CAPTAIN (L Mxothwa) and PRINCESS RAYA (J Jacobs), which had to be steadied away from the heels of KAAPSE KLOPSE (S Veale) when carried inwards by QUESTIONING (B Fayd'Herbe), which shifted in marginally. Jockeys J Jacobs & B Fayd'Herbe appeared before the Board with regards to this incident and were advised to exercise more care when racing in close proximity to other runners in tightly bunched fields. c) 'O CAPTAIN (L Mxothwa), which was directed inwards leaving the 400m, was hanging out from the 300m. d) QUESTIONING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
