THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PATON'S TEARS (*K A Brewer) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 150m, Jockey J R Syster, the rider of BARNEYS PRIDE, accidentally dropped his crop when bumped by CLARKSON (J Penny), which shifted in away from the crop and was straightened. b) Leaving the 150m, TERRA TIME (S Khumalo), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of NOW I GOT YOU (C Habib), which rolled in marginally, and on the heels of STRATOSPHERIC (G Lerena). c) BARD OF AVON (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Botha, acting on behalf of Trainer R R Magner, was advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) STORMY WINTER: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 55,4kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
