THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COPPER MIST (M Yeni) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1000m, TENSTAR (*K A Brewer), which commenced to over-race when fitted with blinkers for the first time, was carried out marginally by COPPER MIST (M Yeni), which was directed outwards to avoid running onto the heels of I SPIED (A Mgudlwa). b) CARE TAKER (K Matsunyane) and HALBERDIER (J Gates) hung in from the 300m. c) Shortly before the finish line, TYSON THE BRAVE (D De Gouveia) was brushed in by COPPER MIST (M Yeni), which rolled in marginally and was immediately straightened. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning VIVACIOUS VICKY, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this colt is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Assistant Trainer J van der Bank, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised. e) CARE TAKER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
