Stipes Report

The start of this race was delayed due to the runners for Race 4 leaving the parade ring late after the conclusion of load-shedding at 14h00, and subsequently to the Starters' report below. 

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	DUKE OF AFRICA (S Veale) was restless in the stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and re-loaded.
b)	MIGHTY RAIN (D Daniels) was restless in the stalls. Lost 1 length.
c)	THE GREEN GALLANT (T Godden) lost 1 length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Shortly after the start KING BAVARIAN (M Yeni) and JOHNNY THE THIEF (G Lerena) came together and bumped.
b)	At the 1000m, the hindquarters of KING BAVARIAN (M Yeni) made contact with KINTAMANI (B Jacobson) resulting in KING BAVARIAN (M Yeni) becoming unbalanced.
c)	At the 900m, MIGHTY RAIN (D Daniels) was switched out off the heels of DUKE OF AFRICA (S Veale). Thereafter THE GREEN GALLANT (T Godden) was eased momentarily when racing in restricted room between the inside running rail and MIGHTY RAIN (D Daniels) which rolled in towards the inside running rail, was immediately corrected and switched out.  Jockey D Daniels appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to be more aware of other runners around him when shifting ground in future.   
d)	Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, guideline M, in that he struck DUKE OF AFRICA more than twelve times (15) when it was not warranted. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R7500 was imposed.  
e)	DUKE OF AFRICA (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson advised (NS).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a)	EXCALIBUR CALLS raced equipped with blinkers (advised 02.08.23/08h47).
