Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	BIG BOY BRUCE (D De Gouveia) refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised (GT).                
b)	JACK FROST (J Penny) was restless in the stalls.
c)	CIRCLE OF GRACE (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.	
d)	RICHARD THE FIRST (C Habib) and HUNTING GROUND (C Maujean) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
e)	JET SPEED (Wes Marwing) was slow losing two lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	Shortly after the start, GOD OF CHAOS (*M K Katjedi) and NOBLE METAL (J P van der Merwe) were squeezed out when awkwardly placed between CIRCLE OF GRACE (K Matsunyane), which jumped sharply inwards leaving the stalls, and ROYAL EDITION (D Schwarz) and HUNTING GROUND (C Maujean), which were carried out by RICHARD THE FIRST (C Habib), which jumped sharply outwards leaving the stalls. 		
b)	At approximately the 400m, JACK FROST (J Penny) and JOHN WICK (A Mgudlwa) came together and bumped when tightened for galloping room between CIRCLE OF GRACE (K Matsunyane), which rolled out, and HEART OF THIEVES (C Zackey), which rolled in. 
c)	Jockey C Habib, the rider of RICHARD THE FIRST, accidentally dropped his crop at the 200m. 	
d)	Jockey Wes Marwing reported that he felt something amiss with JET SPEED in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
e)	In view of the Starter's report with regard to BIG BOY BRUCE, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. 
Suspension dates: 11 August 2023 to 17 August 2023.  BIG BOY BRUCE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised.  	
f)	RICHARD THE FIRST (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (LK).
