THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DAME OF FLAMES (L Mxothwa) threw its head up leaving the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. b) HAZY CRAZY NIGHT (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. c) GOLD FOR AFRICA (E Webber) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 200m CHRONICLESOFNANIA (C Maujean) was accidentally struck on the head by Jockey M Mjoka's (CRAFTY HEART) crop. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that HAZY CRAZY NIGHT changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on GOLD FOR AFRICA, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey D Schwarz signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500.00. d) Jockey K Minnie was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of PHOENIX he misused his crop by striking PHOENIX more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey K Minnie signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. e) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of GOLD FOR AFRICA he misused his crop by striking GOLD FOR AFRICA more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. f) DAME OF FLAMES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
