THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SERVILIUS (*R A Venniker) and BRASS BELL (C Zackey) lost 1 length. b) MAGWINYA (C F Dicken) kicked the back gates. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start BRASS BELL (C Zackey) was squeezed out DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (R Fourie) and MAGWINYA (C F Dicken) which was carried in by FULL OF MAGIC (*K J Lihaba) which jumped in leaving the starting stalls. b) At the finish BRASS BELL (C Zackey) was eased when awkwardly placed between MAJORCA PALACE (S Moodley) which was hanging in and DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (R Fourie) which rolled out and was straightened. c) Apprentice R A Venniker reported that she felt something amiss with SERVILIUS in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SERVILIUS, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer S H Ferrie was advised. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with TRAFALGAR SQUARE in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) An inquiry will be opened in to why DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (R Fourie) had to ease at approximately the 300m. f) ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (BB). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) SERVILIUS : Bilateral epistaxis. 60 days suspension.
