THE STARTER REPORTED: a) POPPY OF BAYEUX (S Veale) was restless in the stalls. b) STAR CHOICE (*K A Brewer) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start POPPY OF BAYEUX (S Veale) threw her head up on two occasions leaving the stalls. b) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with BRIGHT STAR in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Apprentice K A Brewer signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M) in that as the rider of STAR CHOICE he misused his crop by striking this mare more than twelve times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly a fine of R7500 was imposed. d) STAR CHOICE (*K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BRIGHT STAR : Nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
