THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OCEAN WARRIOR (D De Gouveia) jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the stalls, making contact with the outside gate, resulting in this gelding losing three lengths. Trainer J J van Vuuren was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 150m, TOP SAIL (P Mxoli), which hung out from the 300m, and DUKE OF SUSSEX (C Zackey), which shifted in marginally away from the crop, came together and brushed. b) EMIRATE GINA (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Magner was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) EMIRATE GINA was ridden by Jockey M Yeni (declared 14 August 2023 at 08H49), who weighed out at 51kg, 1kg over the carded weight. Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on EMIRATE GINA or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with Trainer R R Magner. Jockey M Yeni signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. b) OCEAN WARRIOR: Jockey D De Gouveia weighed out at 53,9kg, 1,5kg over the carded weight of which 1kg was declared.
