Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BOURNEMOUTH (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start BOURNEMOUTH (R Fourie) was squeezed out when tightened for galloping room between MATSUYAMO (S Khathi) and ELLIS ISLAND (J Jacobs), which shifted out sharply leaving the stalls. b) GIMME GORGEOUS (M Yeni) showed a tendency to hang in in the closing stages. Jockey M Yeni appeared before the Board and was advised that whilst the Stewards were satisfied that he had not prejudiced his finishing position, he should nevertheless ride his mounts out to the end of the race with sufficient vigour so as to leave no room for query. c) Jockey D Schwarz (ALADO'S PRIDE) appeared before the Board and was advised against the practice of using his crop on horses which are out of contention for a place. d) Jockey S Khathi reported that MATSUYAMO did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) BOURNEMOUTH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
