Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MANZ KNIGHT (S Khumalo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) DESERT FOX (M Yeni) and EXQUISITE DAWN (*M K Katjedi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PUNTA ALTA (P Mxoli), after racing prominently throughout, commenced to give ground to the field from the 350m. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that MANZ KNIGHT tired badly from the 300m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse. c) Jockey M van Rensburg was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of LADY DYNAMO, misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey M van Rensburg signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R7500 was imposed. d) DESERT FOX (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B D Botes advised (DD). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MANZ KNIGHT fatigued b) LADY DYNAMO abnormal respiratory noise. c) PUNTA ALTA blowing post race. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
