THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MERCANTOUR (C Habib) and TIZONA (K A Brewer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TAIKONAUT (D Schwarz) hung in from the 500m. Thereafter, Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) RUNNING RIFLES (J Gates), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP).
