THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN GREY (G van Niekerk) jumped awkwardly. b) TYPICALLY FRENCH (M Mjoka), MOMENT OF TRUTH (M Winnaar) and FROM THE HIP (K Steyn) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLD DUST (R Fourie) over raced in the early stages. b) For a short distance leaving the 300m GOLDEN GREY (G van Niekerk) raced in restricted galloping room between the inside running rail and BLAME IT ON ME (C Bantam). c) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on GOLDEN GREY, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. d) DUBBELOSIX, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainers B/J Crawford, was advised.
