THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LIGHTNING FLASH (R Danielson) and MONTE CINTO (*S Sosibo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HEART OF THIEVES (C Zackey) hung out from the 600m. b) KINSHIN SHA (M van Rensburg) hung out from the 400m. c) An inquiry will be opened into Apprentice T Mayhew's riding of SOUTHERN STYLE in the concluding stages. d) Jockey C Habib reported that CAPTAIN JIM did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) MOOLA MAN (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (MS). f) CAPTAIN JIM (C Habib), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
