THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LET THERE BE LIGHT (J R Syster) and PARKER GETRIX (M Yeni) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MASTERS QUEEN (F Herholdt) over-raced in the early stages. b) BLACK LIGHTNING (G Lerena) shifted in sharply for no apparent reason from the 150m. c) BLACK LIGHTNING (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LET THERE BE LIGHT was ridden by Jockey J R Syster (declared 29 August 2023 at 09H13). b) PARKER GETRIX was ridden by Jockey M Yeni, who weighed out at 54,5kg, 1kg over the carded weight as declared. Jockey R Danielson was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on PARKER GETRIX, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with Trainer C I Jonker.
