THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MIDNIGHT CALLER (Wes Marwing) stumbled leaving the stalls. b) TOP MAN (K Matsunyane) was restless in the stalls and thereafter slow, losing one length. c) VIVA DE JANEIRO (C Habib) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. d) IN CAHOOTS (J Gates) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m, WRITTEN IN STONE (J R Syster) was directed inwards to continue its run. b) Shortly before the finish line, COMING IN HOT (G Lerena) and WHORLY WHORLY (C Zackey), when racing in close proximity, came together and brushed. c) WHORLY WHORLY (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Binda, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BRIDGE OF SPIES was ridden by Apprentice M K Katjedi (declared 28 August 2023 at 08H41). b) WRITTEN IN STONE: Jockey J R Syster weighed out at 52,8kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
