THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RAFFLES (M Yeni), MILLAHUE (G Lerena) and MOTOWN MAGIC (K Matsunyane) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 150m, SUPREME DANCE (R Fourie) was carried out by MILLAHUE (G Lerena), which hung out from the 300m. Thereafter, shortly before the finish line, BARNEYS PRIDE (J R Syster) was steadied away from the heels of SUPREME DANCE (R Fourie), which was carried out by MILLAHUE (G Lerena), which continued to hang out. Jockey G Lerena (MILLAHUE) appeared before the Stewards and explained that this gelding had hung out to such an extent that it proved difficult to assist. He was advised to take the necessary corrective measures sooner to keep his mounts straight in races. Furthermore, Trainer J J van Vuuren was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve MILLAHUE'S racing manners. b) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with BOB'S YOUR UNCLE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) TWIN TURBO (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MILLAHUE raced equipped with blinkers and with ear muffs (declared 1 September 2023 at 09H03). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BOB'S YOUR UNCLE choked up. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
