THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODFATHER (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) TROIS TROIS QUATRE (J P van der Merwe) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, EVERY CLOUD (*S Sosibo), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls, was unbalanced and had its hindquarters turned outwards after making contact with ELUSIVE SWANN (C Habib). b) EVERY CLOUD (*S Sosibo), from a wide draw, was encouraged forward around runners to obtain a leading position in advance of the field, and thereafter this gelding tired badly from the 400m. c) Jockey C Habib reported that ELUSIVE SWANN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey J Gates reported that he felt something amiss with THE INKOSANA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse. e) TROIS TROIS QUATRE (J P van der Merwe), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
