THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AQUAE SULIS (*K J Lihaba) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 1500m AFRICAN BEAT (T Godden) brushed the inside running rail. b) AFRICAN BEAT (T Godden) was hanging out from the 300m. c) Shortly before the finish line HOT STRIKE (C F Dicken) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of AFRICAN BEAT (T Godden) which continued to hang out. d) At approximately the 150m DIANA THE HUNTRESS (M Yeni) had to steady after being awkwardly placed on the heels of YOU DESERVE IT (K Matsunyane) which shifted out away from the crop. Thereafter DIANA THE HUNTRESS (M Yeni) shifted in to obtain a clear run. Jockey K Matsunyane (YOU DESERVE IT) appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take earlier corrective measures to ensure that his mounts do not shift ground in Races in future. e) In view of the performances of BLAZING KISS (A Mgudlwa) (2.95 lengths and 5/1 in the betting) and SPRING KISS (D Daniels) (7.35 lengths and 14/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey K Matsunyane signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E ; Guideline M), in that as the rider of YOU DESERVE IT he misused his crop by striking this Mare more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a fine of R4000 was imposed. g) DIANA THE HUNTRESS (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (NS).
