THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 200m EMPIRE BLUE (R Fourie) was steadied for a number of strides when awkwardly placed, initially on the heels of EYJAFJALLAJOKULL (G Lerena), which shifted out slightly away from the crop and subsequently, between EYJAFJALLAJOKULL (G Lerena) and ACORN (M Yeni), which shifted in slightly away from the crop. The Stewards, after carefully assessing this incident, formed the view that a charge could not be preferred against an individual rider as there were circumstances surrounding this incident. Nevertheless, Jockey G Lerena (EYJAFJALLOJOKULL) and Jockey M Yeni (ACORN) were shown the patrol film from the various angles and advised that they should take all reasonable measures to ensure that their mounts maintain a straight course in races and are not an influence on other runners. b) ACORN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
