Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start, Jockey G Lerena expressed concern with ILHA DA MAURICIA's action. This filly was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, found to be not striding out on the right front and was subsequently withdrawn. b) GLOBAL RUSH (M Mjoka) was stubborn loading. c) TARTAN DANCER (X Ndlovu), HOLLY'S VIEW (S Khathi), ALASKAN FATE (S Naidoo), WILLOW LANE (C Maujean) and STATE OF MIND (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the loading process the Stewards were alerted to the fact that unattended livestock were in the pull up area. The start was delayed until the Stewards were satisfied that the track had been cleared. b) Approaching the 800m WILLOW LANE went amiss and was immediately eased out of the race by Jockey C Maujean. This mare was attended to on course by the Veterinary Surgeon. c) Jockey S Khathi reported that HOLLY'S VIEW took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockeys S Naidoo and K Minnie, the riders of ALASKAN FATE and COLORAMA respectively, reported that these mares did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that TELIO did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) After the running of this race the Stewards became aware that Jockey S Naidoo, the rider of ALASKAN FATE, had worn the incorrect colours. The matter has been brought to the attention of the Clerk of Scales on duty. g) Trainer GD Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of ALASKAN FATE. Trainer GD Smith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R600,00. h) UNYIELDING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
