Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TURNTHEBEATAROUND (S Khumalo) was stubborn loading.
b)	MISAVA (S Naidoo) was nervous in the stalls.
c)	CELTIC VIXEN (S Khathi) jumped awkwardly, losing three lengths and thereafter was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	The horse ambulance that attended to QUIXOTE (R Fourie) in Race 1 had to return to the start, causing a 	slight delay.
b)	After being slow to begin CELTIC VIXEN (S Khathi) raced detached from the field in the early stages. 
c)	The saddle on SWIFTWINGED, which over raced in the early stages, slipped forward and sideways leaving 	the 1200m. As a consequence, Jockey L Nhlapo eased this filly out of the race and dismounted at the 	600m. This resulted in Jockey L Nhlapo being unable to weigh in. Acting in terms of Rule 66.2, the Stewards 	were satisfied that SWIFTWINGED had carried the correct weight. The Stewards examined Jockey L Nhlapo's 
	equipment and were satisfied that it was in good working order.
d)	Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with COUNTESSOFTHESTARS, which gave ground 	quickly to the field from the 600m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e)	MISAVA (S Naidoo) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage 	and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National 	Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K Davis)
f)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding CELTIC VIXEN (S Khathi), Trainer M Turner will be advised to 	have this mare re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g)	TURNTHEBEATAROUND, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD 	Smith was advised. (LM)
