THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	COOL RUNNINGS (Y Ramzan) was nervous in the stalls.
b)	DROP OF TIME (E Webber) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	CHARLIE MALONE (S Khumalo), which raced wide on the turn, was hanging in in the straight.
b)	Leaving the 600m CAPTAINS WALK (S Khathi) raced onto the heels of CLAP OF THUNDER (M Mjoka) and 	had to be steadied.
c)	IL LUNGO (X Ndlovu) was held up for a number of strides at the 250m.
d)	Jockey C Habib reported that JACKSON MISISSIPPI made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The 	Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the performance of ON THE ROAD AGAIN, which did not respond to Jockey R Fourie's urgings in 	the straight and was not persevered with in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to 	examine this gelding.
f)	RUSSIAN EMPIRE (R Khathi) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary 	haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The 	National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. g)	CLAP OF THUNDER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC 	Miller was advised. (LM)
