Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MYSTIQUE ROUGE (M Thackeray) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start I'M DEVINE (D Daniels), FREE WILL (C F Dicken), MYSTIQUE ROUGE (M Thackeray), SECRET SUMMER (T Godden) and ANGEL OF FATE (*S Hlengwa) were carried out by WESTOCKMARKETBORSE (K Matsunyane) which jumped outwards. b) At the 300m, WESTOCKMARKETBORSE (K Matsunyane) was steadied and switched to the inside of ANA NOBA (C Habib) for a clear run. c) Shortly before the finish Apprentice B Plaatjies (FLYING DRAGON) accidentally dropped his right side rein which was regained shortly after the finish. d) Jockey C Habib reported that ANA NOBA made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of I'M DEVINE (D Daniels) (14.35 lengths, 8/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey C F Dicken signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of FREE WILL, he misused his crop by striking this filly more than 12 times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R7500 was imposed. g) Jockey C F Dicken signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline C), in that as the rider of FREE WILL, he misused his crop by striking this filly more than 3 times on consecutive strides. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. h) FREE WILL (C F Dicken), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G I Rich advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SECRET SUMMER raced equipped with blinkers (advised 12.09.2023/15h47). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) ANA NOBA : Abnormal respiratory noise. b) I'M DEVINE : Nothing obvious detected. c) LEMON SCENT : Returned post-race having cast the right front shoe.
