THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCESS OF FIRE (JP van der Merwe) was stubborn loading. b) LILLIANA (M Yeni) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls. c) JOY AND PEACE (A Domeyer) and RAINBOW THIEF (M Mjoka) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RAINBOW THIEF (M Mjoka) took an awkward stride shortly after the start. b) EASY LIVING (L Mxothwa), MY AMI BEACH (S Khathi) and FUR BABY (D Schwarz) over raced in the early stages. c) KILMONIVAIG (C Maujean) was hanging in in the straight. d) Jockey D Schwarz was dislodged in the pull-up area, which precluded him from weighing back in. In terms of Rule 66.2 the Stewards were satisfied that FUR BABY had carried the correct weight. e) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that PRINCESS OF FIRE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) In view of the performance of JOY AND PEACE, which changed strides awkwardly leaving the 400m and thereafter did not respond to Jockey A Domeyer's urgings, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) PINNACLE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
