Race 7: BETWAY INSUREBET FM 66 HANDICAP (F & M) (For Fillies and Mares)

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	COLORAMA (C Maujean) was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a slight delay.
b)	STAGE PLAY (M van Rensburg), DEFINING MOMENT (W Agrella), AIMEE'S IDOL (S Khathi) and ANGELSEA (D Schwarz) were slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After being dislodged in Race 3, Jockey E Webber was examined by the course Medical Officer and passed fit 	to continue riding for the remainder of the race meeting.
b)	Leaving the 200m GRUE OF ICE (M Yeni), which showed a tendency to hang out and 	IQEMBULABESIFAZANE (K Matsunyane) raced tight. Thereafter, approaching the 50m 	IQEMBULABESIFAZANE (K Matsunyane) was carried out marginally by GRUE OF ICE (M Yeni) and then 	was brushed by GRUE OF ICE (M Yeni), which changed stride and shifted out approximately three strides 	before the finish. Jockey K Matsunyane (IQEMBULABESIFAZANE) called for a race review regarding this 	incident which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey K Matsunyane, the rider of the 2nd placed 	horse IQEMBULABESIFAZANE against the winner GRUE OF ICE (M Yeni) on the grounds of interference 	in 	the latter stages.  The Objection Board, after giving due regard to the evidence put forward, reviewing the 	patrol films, taking into account the margin of 0,10 of a length between the two horses concerned and the 	proximity to the finish line, could not be satisfied that IQEMBULABESIFAZANE would have finished ahead of 	GRUE OF ICE had this incident not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judge's 	result to stand. Jockey K Matsunyane's deposit was refunded.
c)	The saddle on UNITED EXPRESS (R Fourie) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary 	Steward.
d)	Jockey R Khathi (MAGENTA) dropped his crop at the 400m.
e)	Jockeys S Khathi and M van Rensburg, the riders of AIMEE'S IDOL and STAGE PLAY respectively, reported 	that these geldings took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f)	GRUE OF ICE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was 	advised. (LM)
