THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start MAGICALLEE (C F Dicken) and BIG SLICK (*B Plaatjies) came together and brushed. b) At approximately the 700m, QUEST FOR THE BEST (*N Nastili) switched out to avoid running onto the heels of PRINCEKRESH (M Yeni). As a consequence of this COTTON RON (C Maujean) was carried out marginally. c) At approximately the 200m, VALIENTE (T Godden), ONE TOO MANY (G Lerena) and ESQUEVELLE (C Zackey) were carried out by DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (C Habib) which shifted out sharply away from the crop and was immediately straightened. d) VALIENTE (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
