THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING OF SPIN (L Mxothwa), LONACH (C Bantam) and GOLDEN GREY (B Fayd'Herbe) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLDEN GREY (B Fayd'Herbe), which raced green on the turn, was switched outwards and into clear running at the 250m. b) EXPLOSIVE SPEED (C Zackey) was unable to secure clear running in the straight and had to be steadied when close to the heels of GUARDING THE WALL (A Andrews), which rolled out at the 250m. c) Leaving the 300m LINDBERGH (S Veale) raced in restricted galloping room for a number of strides on the inside of THE GREY KING (G van Niekerk). d) At the 250m KING OF SPIN (L Mxothwa), which raced green, was directed outwards into clear running and then commenced to hang outwards and proved difficult to keep on a straight course. e) In view of the performance of KING OF SPIN (L Mxothwa) (Betting 5/2; Distance 5.90 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) TENANGO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
