THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FALCON STRIKE (C Maujean) was slow losing one length. b) BIOFARMER (M van Rensburg) was slow into stride. c) VIVA SPIRIT (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FALCON STRIKE (C Maujean) raced green. b) Shortly after the start, ROYAL EDITION (C Habib) was buffeted between MK'S DREAMS (S Khumalo) and VIVA SPIRIT (G Lerena), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that VIVA SPIRIT changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) PURPLE PITCHER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R Klaasen advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ROYAL EDITION merit rating 89, mass 60kg (unchanged) (winner, Turffontein Racecourse on 3 October 2023). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) VIVA SPIRIT examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) GUY GIBSON mouth injury. c) ZINOVI abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
