THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TARA STAR (S Moodley) lost 1 length. b) WAR EMPRESS (*B Plaatjies) jumped awkwardly. Lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 900m TARA STAR (S Moodley) had to ease when awkwardly placed between the inside running rail and MAMAS BABY (A Mgudlwa) which was carried in by ARVERNI PRINCESS (C Maujean) which shifted in sharply after brushing FULL OF MAGIC (R Fourie). As a consequence of this TARA STAR (S Moodley) lost momentum and ground to the field. In assessing this incident, the Board was of the opinion that ARVERNI PRINCESS (C Maujean) made a sharp sudden movement and that Jockey C Maujean had made an immediate attempt to straighten this filly, and therefore deemed this to be a racing incident. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss in the running with FULL OF MAGIC. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performance of TARA STAR (S Moodley) (8.90 lengths, 33/10 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Trainer P Gadsby signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for FULL OF MAGIC. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. e) HOT PEARL (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey M Yeni was the rider of MAQUETTE (advised 08.10.2023/07h35). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) FULL OF MAGIC raced with club colours. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) TARA STAR : Not striding out right hind. b) FULL OF MAGIC : Speedy cut right front, scalp wound left hind and not striding out right front. c) WAR EMPRESS : Coughing.
