Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	COOL WINTER (R Fourie) jumped awkwardly inwards.
b)	VISION OF WONDER (M Yeni) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a) 	At the 100m EUROPEAN SUMMER (R Khathi) was awkwardly placed on the inside of NOTORIX (Y Ramzan), which showed a tendency to hang inwards and rolled in marginally. Thereafter EUROPEAN SUMMER (R Khathi) was directed inwards and then had to be steadied when close to the heels of CAPTAIN CASANOVA (L Mxothwa) at the finish. 
Trainer E Kaknis, the Trainer of EUROPEAN SUMMER (R Khathi), called for a race review, which was followed by him lodging an objection on behalf of EUROPEAN SUMMER (R Khathi) against the dead-heat winners CAPTAIN CASANOVA (L Mxothwa) and VEGAS GOLD (C Maujean) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Objection Board, after hearing the evidence, reviewing the patrol films and giving consideration to the margin of one (1) length between the horses concerned, was satisfied that EUROPEAN SUMMER (R Khathi) would not have finished ahead of CAPTAIN CASANOVA (L Mxothwa) or VEGAS GOLD (C Maujean) had the incident complained of not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Furthermore, the Objection Board was of the opinion that the objection lodged by Trainer E Kaknis had no prospect of success and his deposit was declared forfeit.
b)	Jockey Y Ramzan was unable to ride NOTORIX to the finish when close to the heels of VEGAS GOLD (C Maujean) in the concluding stages.
c)	Jockey A Arries reported that FATHER'S FROST coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	VEGAS GOLD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
