Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GAINSFORD (G Wright) jumped slow, losing one length. b) ONE WAY TRAFFIC (G van Niekerk) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the performance of SOMERSET MAUGHAM (R Danielson), which raced with an awkward head carriage throughout, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) ONE WAY TRAFFIC (G van Niekerk), which initially shifted in away from the crop, was directed inwards and into clear running at the 150m. c) Jockey G Wright reported that he felt something amiss with GAINSFORD. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of SENSO UNICO he misused his crop by striking SENSO UNICO more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey O Noach signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. e) SENSO UNICO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (SC) f) THE FUTURIST, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
