THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	An inquiry will be opened to establish why BILLY BOWLEGS (S Khumalo), EAST COAST (*R A Venniker) and ELECTRIC GOLD (J Gates) had to ease at the 1400m.
b)	Jockey J Gates was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of ELECTRIC GOLD, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. 
Jockey J Gates signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R6000 was imposed.
c)	ATTICUS FINCH (K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
