Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLACK SILVER (J P van der Merwe) and BALLROOM BLISS (*S Sosibo) were slow losing one length. b) CRIMSON PRINCESS (D De Gouveia) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being slow away, BLACK SILVER (J P van der Merwe) failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field up until the 1400m, whereafter this mare managed to regain contact with the rest of the field. Thereafter, Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with BLACK SILVER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Assistant Trainer P Dhlamini, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of BLACK SILVER on return to stables. b) Between the 300m and the 200m, UNITED COUNCIL (S Khumalo) was carried out by APACHE FIGHTER (M Yeni), which shifted out away from crop. Jockey M Yeni (APACHE FIGHTER) appeared before the Board and was advised to take the necessary corrective measures sooner to keep his mounts straight in races. c) The padding on Jockey G Lerena's crop (OPERA GLASS) came adrift at the 50m. d) APACHE FIGHTER (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Botha, acting on behalf of Trainer R R Magner, was advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) CRIMSON PRINCESS raced without blinkers (declared 13 October 2023 at 09H23). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BLACK SILVER examined post race, nothing obvious detected THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
