Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SKY VELOCITY (C Maujean) and GIDEON'S DAUGHTER (R Fourie) were nervous in the stalls. b) SET FOR LIFE (D Schwarz) was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly. c) CELTIC VIXEN (S Khathi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 1300m CELTIC VIXEN raced onto, clipped the heels of GIDEON'S DAUGHTER (R Fourie) and fell, dislodging Jockey S Khathi. Jockey S Khathi was attended to by the paramedics on the course and was then transported to hospital for further observation. An investigation has been opened into whether the provisions of Rules 23.1; 23.2 and Appendix H have been met by Jockey S Khathi following information received in relation to him being admitted to hospital. b) After coming under pressure upon entering the straight, GIDEON'S DAUGHTER (R Fourie) was unable to secure clear running approaching the 150m between PONDEROSA PINE (M Yeni) and TEMPELHOFF (M Mjoka), which rolled in marginally. Thereafter, Jockey R Fourie was unable to ride this filly to the finish when held up behind PONDEROSA PINE (M Yeni) and TEMPELHOFF (M Mjoka). c) ELUSIVE MATA (S Khumalo) was hanging in the latter stages. d) Jockey S Naidoo reported that QUIRK OF FATE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) PONDEROSA PINE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
