Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NIKOLAI KOPERNIK (M Thackeray) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 800m THALAIVA (N Patel) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of BOMBER STREAM (S Moodley) which rolled in. b) KING OF QUEEN (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 300m. c) Jockey S Moodley reported that BOMBER STREAM did not stride out freely in the running and as a result he did not persevere with his ride from the 300m. In view of this report the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer D Moore will be advised to report back on the condition of this gelding on return to the stables. d) Jockey C Habib reported that UBUNTU WARRIOR coughed in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey N Patel signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of THALAIVA he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R4000 was imposed. f) ROYAL SWAN MASTER (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) NIKOLAI KOPERNIK raced without blinkers (Advised 17.10.2023/05h45). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BOMBER STREAM: Nothing obvious detected. b) UBUNTU WARRIOR: Not striding out right front.
