Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MATSUYAMO (K Minnie) and PORT LOUIS (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length.
b)	GALLIC TRIBE (J Gates) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Prior to the commencement of the race meeting Jockey R Fourie told the Stewards that, in his opinion, PORT LOUIS had resented the use of the crop in its last race. For this reason, he advised the Stewards that in today's race, he would make every effort to assist this gelding without making use of the crop. This information was disseminated via the on-course presenters to the racing public.
b)	Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.
c)	Shortly after the start PERFECTION (S Khumalo) was squeezed out between CAT DADDY (A Arries) and AND WE DANCED (L Mxothwa), both of which shifted ground marginally leaving the stalls.
d)	At the 200m SARARI BLUE (C Maujean) had to be steadied momentarily when close to the heels of PRINCE OF FIRE (M Yeni), which was hanging in in the straight, shifted in and was immediately straightened.
e)	PERFECTION (S Khumalo) was held up for a clear run in the concluding stages.
f)	Jockey M Mjoka reported that NAVAL SECRET took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
g)	Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of NARCOS he misused his crop by striking NARCOS more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey D Schwarz signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. 
h)	GALLIC TRIBE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. (LM)
