THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NIGHT SONG (G Cheyne) took an awkward stride leaving the stalls. b) GAINSFORD (R Fourie) and KNIGHTS TEMPLAR (S Khumalo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CONTACT ZONE (J Jacobs) was hanging out in the straight. b) Approaching the 400m GAINSFORD (R Fourie) had to be eased away from the heels of KNIGHTS TEMPLAR (S Khumalo) and was directed inwards to continue its run. c) Approaching the 50m KNIGHTS TEMPLAR (S Khumalo) had to be directed inwards to avoid the heels of CONTACT ZONE (J Jacobs). d) GAINSFORD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
