Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BELLA'S LEGEND (D Schwarz) was restless in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. b) STATE CAPITOL (R Danielson) jumped slow, losing one length c) KYOKA (G Wright) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In a slow-run race KYOKA (G Wright) and PINEAPPLEMINTGREEN (A Domeyer) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. b) WUGUG (L Mxothwa) was hanging in in the straight. c) Leaving the 900m SANSA STARK (R Fourie) was allowed to race around the field and to the lead before entering the straight. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with DOUBLEYOUESSBEE (C Zackey). The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) When questioned regarding the early pace set by TOKYO PRINCESS, Jockey B Fayd'Herbe told the Stewards that this filly raced awkwardly upon entering the first turn, had lost momentum and had steadied the pace on her own accord. While the patrol film confirmed Jockey B Fayd'Herbe's statement, the Stewards advised him that in similar circumstances he would be expected to encourage his mount forward more vigorously to ensure that his mounts maintain at least a reasonable pace. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding BELLA'S LEGEND (D Schwarz), Trainer MH Maingard will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) PINEAPPLEMINTGREEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised.
