Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ENGLISH MISTRESS (G Wright) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 350m MIRACLE IN MOTION (G van Niekerk) rolled out, brushed ANALYTIC (R Danielson) and then had to be steadied when close to the heels of MY TRUE LOVE (M Winnaar). Thereafter, Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with MIRACLE IN MOTION and did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) The saddle on PINSTRIPE (L Mxothwa) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. c) Jockey A Andrews was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of FAMILY POWER he misused his crop by striking FAMILY POWER more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Andrews signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. d) ENCHANTING CHOICE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised.
