THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WAR EMPRESS (C Maujean) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SHOT OF COURAGE (*K J Lihaba) was hanging in from the 400m. b) DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (R Fourie) was hanging out from the 200m. c) Jockey C Maujean reported that WAR EMPRESS did not stride out freely in the running and was coughing at the pull up. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of ZABADAK (*R A Venniker) (8.20 lengths, 40/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey N Patel appeared before the Board with regard to his ride on COTTON RON, with particular reference from the 400m to the 150m. He explained to the Board that he was informed about this gelding's short run in and was advised to sit as long as possible before asking COTTON RON for a finishing effort. The Board noted this explanation and further advised Jockey N Patel that should there be a change in riding tactics, this should be brought to the Stipendiary Board's attention prior to the race in future. f) DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Binda advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) AGRESSIVO raced equipped with blinkers (advised 20.10.2023/07h34). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
