Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHAT A HONEY (C Zackey) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stipendiary Board called a race review into the start of this race with regards to WHAT A HONEY in stall gate 3. It was established that shortly before the start was effected, this mare had raised her right hind leg, which was caught on the inside starting stall rail and resulted in her losing two lengths when the gates were released. The Board was of the opinion that this impediment and subsequent loss of distance had been a result of her own behaviour and in terms of Rule 61.5.10.3, WHAT A HONEY was declared to be a runner. b) GOOD QUEEN BESS (GB) (S Khumalo) over-raced in the early stages. c) Jockey R Danielson reported that CRIMSON PRINCESS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Trainer P F Matchett was issued with an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate GIMMEALIGHT and LIGHT OF DAY against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer P F Matchett signed the Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. e) CELTIC RUMOURS (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Habib, acting on behalf of Trainer S G Tarry, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) GIMMEALIGHT raced without blinkers (declared 2 November 2023 at 08H46). b) LIGHT OF DAY raced without blinkers (declared 2 November 2023 at 08H47). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CRIMSON PRINCESS examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
