THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ELUSIVE JEWEL (M Mjoka) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) STATE OF MIND (A Arries) was nervous in the stalls. c) TARTAN DANCER (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) SPIRIT PRINCESS (L Mxothwa), OPERA SWING (R Khathi) and HOLLY'S VIEW (K Minnie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) OPERA SWING (R Khathi) and HOLLY'S VIEW (K Minnie) brushed at the 400m. b) Jockey R Khathi (OPERA SWING) dropped his crop approaching the 250m. c) SPIRIT PRINCESS (L Mxothwa) was hanging in in the latter stages. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that ILHA DA MAURICIA did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ELUSIVE JEWEL (M Mjoka), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 14 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 06/11/2023 to 19/11/2023, both dates inclusive). ELUSIVE JEWEL may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) OPERA SWING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised.
