THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAVALIERI (M Thackeray) kicked the back gates, was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SHOT OF COURAGE (*K J Lihaba) was hanging in from the 200m. b) Approaching the 100m, MASK ON (C Maujean) was carried in for a short distance by COTTON RON (N Patel) which was hanging in from the 300m and rolled in. c) In the concluding stages B FIFTYTWO (R Fourie) was switched to the outside of COTTON RON (N Patel) to continue its run. d) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that he felt something amiss in the running with QHAWE LAMI. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey T Godden reported that SEATTLE RIPPER did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) MASK ON (C Maujean), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L W Goosen advised (DZ).
