Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED A) FLASH GALA stood awkwardly in the stalls. B) OPULENCE, SAVANNAH BUDDY and HOMER FIDGET were slow into stride. C) PERFECTLY PUTT was slow away and lost length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Between the 300m and the 150m, HOMER FIDGET (R Fourie) made its run on the inside running rail on the inside of YOUNG NELSON (M Yeni) and was tightened for galloping room and brushed in on one occasion. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary board. This was followed by an objection being lodged by the rider of the 2nd placed horse, R Fourie (HOMER FIDGET), against the winner, YOUNG NELSON (M Yeni), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages of the race. The Board, after reviewing the patrol film of this incident, as well as hearing the evidence put forward by all parties, was of the opinion the result of the race had not been affected and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Jockey R Fourie's deposit was refunded. B) The Stewards have adjourned to review this incident. C) The winner YOUNG NELSON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer Z Oosthuizen advised (LM). D) The unplaced horse SAVANNAH BUDDY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J V A Strydom advised (LM).
