Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SOPHIA RAIE (D Schwarz) reared in the stalls, broke through the front gates, dislodged Jockey D Schwarz and bolted the course. The filly was taken in hand, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) LASTING INFLUENCE (K Matsunyane) jumped slow, losing one length. c) OLD Q (G van Niekerk) and DAIMYO (JP van der Merwe) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LITTLE LEXI (L Mxothwa) raced green. b) OLD Q (G van Niekerk) was hanging out in the straight. c) NEWTON HEATH (A Arries) was hanging in in the latter stages. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SOPHIA RAIE (D Schwarz), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 12/11/2023 to 18/11/2023 inclusive). SOPHIA RAIE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. e) Trainers H Crawford/M Rix were charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that they failed to vaccinate SOPHIA RAIE against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer M Rix signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) NAVAJO DANCER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised.
