THE STARTER REPORTED A) BAD HABIT was slow into stride. B) MENDOCINO was slow away and lost 1 length. C) FREEDOM SEEKER (AUS) fly jumped leaving the stalls. D) SOFIA ERIN was stubborn loading. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Jockey M V'Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with TALLAHASSEE in the running and eased this filly out of the race from the 200m. In view of this report, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer W G C Miller was requested to report back on the condition of this filly upon return to the stables. B) Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse SHINE A LIGHT more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R750 fine was imposed. C) The winner FREEDOM SEEKER (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) SHINE A LIGHT raced without blinkers (15:35 - 10/02/2022). B) SOFIA ERIN raced equipped with a compression mask and with alumites front, unshod behind (08:48 - 11/02/2022) C) FRENCH JOY Jockey T Gould replaced Jockey C Maujean (11:35 - 11/02/2022). THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) BAD HABIT coughed post-race. B) SHINE A LIGHT and MENDOCINO abnormal respiratory noise. C) SOFIA ERIN mouth injury. D) TALLAHASSEE nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
